Who We Are

Oncologia Varini & Calderoni is a medical structure of high expertise, which guarantees a global treatment of tumor disease for each patient and excellent care, while maintaining the highest quality of life possible.

Patients are looked after during the entire course of the disease, from diagnostic procedures to therapeutic measures, alway taking into consideration the particular needs of the patient with special attention to his or her psychological and social conditions and those of everyday life.

Oncologia Varini & Calderoni is directed by Dr. Marco Varini and Dr. Antonello Calderoni, who themselves look after each patient individually and who establish the necessary collaboration with the patient’s family doctor, with the oncological service of the Clinica Sant’Anna in Sorengo and with the volunteers and professionals of the Sottoceneri Section of the Associazione Triangolo.

Secretarial and Medical Staff Organization

Our secretaries handle the reception of patients and the organization of various appointments for patients both within and outside of our medical structure.

Consultations with specialists, radiological examinations, the transportation of patients, etc. can be arranged and carried out both in Ticino and outside of the Canton, since Oncologia Varini & Calderoni works together with university centers throughout all of Switzerland and, if necessary, also outside of the country.

Laboratory assistants and medical assistants permit a rapid carrying out of ambulatory activities: hematological analyses are carried out within our structure in order to have the results almost immediately; necessary therapy is performed without loss of time; long term controls (for example, annual check-ups) are planned immediately to permit a guaranteed follow-up for our patients. In the medical structure there is also a psycho-oncologist who can give support to the patient and his or her family, who are confronted with the psychological stress caused by the diagnosis, the therapy and the evolution of the illness.

A team of highly qualified nurses is available to perform chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, and immunotherapy, to inform the patients about the collateral effects of the treatment and what can be done to alleviate them.

Our oncological service is available twenty-four hours a day. in case of emergency outside of our normal working hours our physicians can be reached through the Clinica SantМAnna in Sorengo.
